#opendaylight-docs: docs
Meeting started by colindixon at 16:06:20 UTC
(full logs).
Meeting summary
- roll call and agenda bash (colindixon, 16:06:28)
- colin, denise and casey are here (colindixon,
16:06:36)
- the plan is to first review Denise's new
getting started guide a bit (colindixon,
16:07:52)
- new getting started guide (colindixon, 16:08:46)
- this version doesn't go into tons of detail
about karaf or other things (colindixon,
16:09:12)
- it's likely better suited to the gaps we
currently have (colindixon,
16:12:12)
- denise asks how to deal with projects vs.
features, colindixon says that he'd like to see us avoid talking
about projects to users and focus only on features (colindixon,
16:14:29)
- this is the same as linux package managers, a
single "project" may produce multiple packages, but users don't need
to care (colindixon,
16:14:50)
- charles la voy, zxiiro and anipbu are also
atending now (colindixon,
16:16:27)
- colindixon says that probably the level of
detail about java and karaf and osgi is just how to install
java (colindixon,
16:16:56)
- action items from last week (colindixon, 16:19:01)
- I *think* we can't require that projects
auto-generate their own maven sites and java doc for this release,
we could *maybe* ask zxiiro to make the changes everywhere, but even
that's a stretch at this point (colindixon,
16:19:41)
- ACTION: zxiiro to
talk to yangtools about removing maven 3.1 support to get this
merged and then find a second project that we could play with,
likely mdsal (colindixon,
16:21:28)
- ACTION: colindixon to
add being able to auto-generate YANG RE this as a requirment for
Boron (colindixon,
16:21:29)
- ACTION: colindixon to
try to work on getting project categorization for this page
https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Project_list (colindixon,
16:21:30)
- back to getting started guide (colindixon, 16:21:34)
- denise asks if we can really avoid mentioning
Karaf, colindixon says probably not, but we should acknoweldge it as
little as possible, basically say "karaf is a runtime that makes
managing java applications easier including providing features that
act like packages in linux—OpenDaylight provides most of it's
fucntioanlity as karaf features." (colindixon,
16:23:19)
- colindixon tells denise if ignoring projects is
wrong, acknowlege that they exist and it's where features come from,
but that it shouldn't matter too much for end-users, but might help
when filing bugs or looking for more information (colindixon,
16:24:31)
- colindixon notes that features should be named
odl-<projectname>-<featurename> (colindixon,
16:25:12)
current document is here (colindixon,
16:26:55)
colindixon added a link from here to the downloads page where the
current docs are, it might make more sense to point to docucentral
later (colindixon,
16:30:03)
- ACTION: https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/Docucentral
colindixon to work with casey to start to populate this (colindixon,
16:30:27)
Meeting ended at 16:30:54 UTC
